Highly anticipated and quite simply, unforgettable. This annual Toronto tradition, one of the city’s
most popular, returns on November 30, 2012. The daylong festival gives sport fans the chance to support an amazing cause, Special Olympics Canada, while mingling with some of our country’s, sport heroes and legends, both past and present.
Where it all began
30 years ago, a Toronto boardroom was the scene for a brainstorming session among brothers Brian and Bruce Etherington, and friend David Garard. Their wish: to weave new strands of generosity and caring into the fabric of national life. From that “meeting of the minds”, their brainchild, a sports-themed breakfast known then as the Sports Celebrities Festival, was born.
Today, the Special Olympics Festival has grown into a daylong celebration of must attend events that are organized in cities across the country, including Toronto.
